Deteriorating functional capacity among older adults creates a growing need for support in their daily lives. Limitations in instrumental activities of daily living (IADL), which often indicate early cognitive decline and the presence of multimorbidity, increase the need for support from family members or other persons living in the same household. While many studies have found that the declining function reduces the well-being of older adults, the effects of the living arrangements on those with IADL limitations are still unclear. Using data from Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) waves 4 and 5, this study examined the effects and proposed some recommendations to improve their well-being.
Penelitian ini merupakan bagian dari disertasi untuk memperoleh gelar S3 dari Institute for Population and Social Research (IPSR), Mahidol University, Thailand, dan akan diterbitkan dengan judul Does living with children or financial adequacy mitigate the impact of IADL limitations on older adults’ well-being? Findings from the longitudinal Indonesian Family Life Survey dalam jurnal BMC Geriatrics.
